BACKGROUND
- Reason/Objective: The NSS unit of St. Paul’s College participated in a Tree Plantation Drive organized by the University of Mumbai. This event aimed to promote environmental awareness and contribute to the greening of our campus and surrounding areas. The drive was graced by the esteemed presence of the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Ravindra D. Kulkarni.
SUMMARY OF THE DAY
Opening Ceremony:
The event began with an opening ceremony where Dr. Kulkarni addressed the participants. The NSS Program Officer of St. Paul’s College welcomed everyone and outlined the objectives of the drive.
Tree Plantation:
Participants were divided into groups, each assigned a specific area for plantation. Saplings of various indigenous species were provided for plantation. Volunteers planted trees under the guidance of faculty members and NSS coordinators.
Environmental Awareness Session:
After the plantation activity, an awareness session was conducted. Expert Ms. Rashmi Joshi spoke about the benefits of trees, the importance of biodiversity, and ways to protect the environment.
Refreshments and Networking:
Refreshments were provided to all participants. This session also served as an opportunity for participants to interact and discuss further environmental initiatives.
